Pet Odor Removal

Pet urine in carpeting can be difficult to address with standard cleaning alone. Depending on the severity of the issue, urine may affect the carpet fibers, backing, pad, or flooring beneath the carpet. Chem-Dry of Boulder‘s Pet Urine Removal Treatment, P.U.R.T.®, is designed to treat urine-related odor concerns by targeting affected areas rather than simply covering up odors.
Our technicians will inspect the affected carpet and recommend an appropriate cleaning or treatment plan based on the condition of the carpet, the location of the odor, and the extent of the issue.
Facts You Need To Know About Pet Urine In Your Carpeting:
Urine deposited on carpet may soak beyond the surface fibers and into the carpet backing, pad, or flooring material below. Pets may also return to the same area repeatedly, which can make the odor more noticeable over time.
As urine dries, odor-causing residue can remain in the carpet or materials underneath. Standard surface cleaning may not fully address odor concerns when the source has moved below the carpet fibers.
P.U.R.T.® is applied to affected areas as part of a targeted treatment process. The exact steps needed will depend on the severity of the odor and the materials affected.
How P.U.R.T.® Works
- The source and severity of the odor are evaluated, then the carpet may be rinsed and extracted to help remove urine-related residue.
- In more severe cases, the carpet may be pulled back in the affected areas to inspect the extent of the issue.*
- If necessary, the pad may be removed and replaced.*
- An odor-blocking shellac may be applied to the subfloor if determined necessary.*
- P.U.R.T.® may be applied to affected areas such as the tack strip, subfloor, baseboards, carpet backing, or carpet fibers, depending on the inspection results.*
- The treated area is given time to process according to the recommended treatment timeline.
